« Gravesend 100 Mile Lunch served a $2000 funding boost »

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall recently announced that the NSW Government would support the upcoming Gravesend Hundred Mile Long Lunch, dishing up $2,000 to ensure the feast is a success again this year.

The local MP secured the one-off grant from Premier Gladys Berejiklian, to provide a marquee for a larger number of guests this year.

“The Gravesend Hundred Mile Long Lunch is a must-attend event in the North-West foodie calendar, celebrating the delicious produce grown in a 100 mile radius of Gravo,” Mr Marshall said.

“The lunch has grown since its inception in 2016, with plans this year to feed and water 200 lucky people on Saturday, 7 April.

“This event not only showcases the proud agricultural tradition of the North-West, but raises valuable funds for the Gravesend Public School. In 2016 the lunch raised almost $20,000 for the school.

“NSW Government funding will help the P&C hire a spacious marquee for the event, providing comfortable shelter for all those attending.

“With the support of the local community and the NSW Government, I look forward to the 2018 Gravesend Hundred Mile Long Lunch being better than ever.

Event organiser Jody van Velthuizen said this year’s lunch was shaping up to be a huge success, with planning ongoing since early last year.

“There will be a new menu of delicious local foods and more fabulous items for auction from our generous sponsors.  Entertainment will flow late into the afternoon to add to the special 'chilled out' Gravesend atmosphere,” Mrs van Velthuizen said.

“This money will greatly assist the P&C in hiring a fabulous, large marquee for our event, ensuring that even in the event of some beautiful rain, the fun will proceed.

“With more guests we are anticipating that the event is even more successful than in 2016 and will be an incredible fundraiser for the students at Gravesend Public School.”
